Introduction

The coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak poses a major threat to community networks in South Florida. Several forecasts currently predict that Florida may become the epicenter of the outbreak in the United States. For this reason, it is critical that we remain united as a community in South Florida, do our part to prevent the spread of the virus, and help those affected by the virus.

Unfortunately, many are ill-informed about existing support systems that can play a critical role in these challenging times. Put simply, there seems to be a lot of information out there and a lot of uncertainty about what tomorrow might bring. It is important to prevent frustration and confusion from consuming us, which is why I have designed this online resource center for residents in South Florida to gain access to critical information.

Some key features that the website includes are a table with the most recent data of cases (globally, US, Florida, and South Florida); a map including all public schools distributing food to students and testing sites (with further details and instructions each site provided); and a news feed that allows people to gain access to the most up-to-date information being released by the New York Times.

I have always believed in the power of community in crises like the one we are living in today. If we all rally around correct information, unity, and common sense, we can drive out fear and the virus. To strengthen our communities in these pressing times, not only does this website provide information about the state of affairs, but also lists several foundations and to donate and also where help is being offered.

I hope this website is useful to the millions of people who are suffering in this terrible crisis and my heart goes out to all those affected.
